For I know the plans I have for you

‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart’
– Jeremiah 29:11-13

The greatest helper of all times is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is the help of the helpless, the reject of society, he is husband to the widow and the parent of orphans. There are many biographies in the Bible where supernatural help has come to save and rescue. Some come when God speaks direct into a situation through a prophet but many through people handpicked by God to be destiny helpers. Whether through a kick or a kiss, destiny helpers will arise.

Potiphar’s wife was a destiny helper. Joseph, after going through rejection from his family, being sold as a slave and treated like a worthless person; yet there was one thing that remained precious within his heart, his love for God. Joseph never forgot the God of his Fathers – Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Joseph was grateful to God for how far his life had been preserved; there was no more beatings and he had a leadership role in Potiphar’s house, he had arrived at his comfort zone. But the Lord was watching over His word to perfect it. And so the incidence of the staged rape by Potiphar’s wife was a shock, a painful and humiliating kick to nudge him towards his destined life purpose.

Studying the characteristics of destiny helpers in the Bible is very inspiring. Some have names whilst others are referenced by their positions, or a description of the help they rendered. Either way the report of their actions were significant enough to be captured in memoirs.

The guard who took care of Daniel and his friends (Daniel 1:11) was a destiny helper. Naomi was a destiny helper to Ruth. Pharaoh’s daughter was born to be a destiny helper; she played a major role in preparing the way for a type of Christ, Moses. The woman at Bethany was a destiny helper, she broke her alabaster jar filled with expensive oil, and about her, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her”(Mark 14:9).

In our journey on Destiny Lane, the road may be smooth, rough or full of twists and turns. Whether we are caught in traffic or we are at a cross road, the Lord has placed destiny helpers along our way and they will do their work with or without our permission.

You may complain about the kicks but receive courage from the Holy Spirit, bear the pain because just around the corner there is a breakthrough. You have been praying for destiny helpers offering kisses, I pray you get them in multiples. However, if you are in pursuit of your destined life purpose you must be ready to receive more kicks than kisses.

This month, be sensitive to your destiny helpers. Thank the Lord for them regardless of the experience they bring. Acknowledge God in all you do and He will make your ways prosperous. Your next level is eminent, stand firm and stay focussed on the author of life – Jesus the Christ.

Shalom.
